HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Hope 2008 is a good one!

CAR ANGEL WORIKING FOR GOOD

Here is something to think about if you would like to give a very very last minute tax deductible donation, or get a jump start on the new year of 2008, doing something good to help others. Car Angel Dot Com is a non-profit company that accepts your car donation, monetary donations, and other donations to make awareness videos for kids and teens. So far they have given away over 2.4 million videos and the money that is raised is used to make the videos! (Like this one above) The videos distributed cover topics from drug abuse (And how it is not the way to go) to sharing the story of Jesus, even translating some of those into Spanish. I particularly like the video above, as it tells the story of addiction, and how our kids today can avoid it. I think it might be something good to use as a film lesson in schools doing drug education as well. So, just a little informative post on how you can do something good at the end of this 2007, or start your 2008 with a bang.

THE PAIN IS REAL

I don't usually like to use other people's images on this site, but the pain depicted in this one was so familiar, so grabby at me, that I had to share it. Shine the light on me please someone, somewhere..... fibromyalgia is real, it affects people, and finally the doctors are starting to come around to believe that. Thank God.

MY CUT OUT COLOR WHEEL

Another assignment for art class, this time I had to cut out colors from magazine clippings and create my own color wheel. Kind of fun really. I am enjoying the class, and I am glad it is not too stressful for the inter term. It is much more fun than writing about luxury real estate for the billionth time anyways..... I don't suppose anyone can afford that these days.

YELLOW AND PURPLE COMPLIMENTARY

I created this digital painting for an assignment in my Art Appreciation class. It is an example of the complimentary colors yellow and purple on the color wheel.
So maybe this is what you would get if you tried to paint with Ingersoll Rand air tools?
Not a great work of art, but a completed assignment at least.....

PROGRESSION OF ART

At the beginning of the semester, my class of drawing students were asked to draw a simple set up in about an hour. The top photo was what came out of my pencil and paper. Of course I had confirmed what I already knew - I couldn't draw.

This bottom photo is the drawing I made of the same set up at the end of this semester in about 30 minutes. Though I may never be "great" at drawing, I learned so much by taking this class. I can SEE things that I never noticed before, and with carefulness, I can transfer a lot more of it to paper. My own transformation was simply amazing to me. Next project - drawing a series of Kohler sinks!! :)

HAPPY HOLIDAY SHOPPING - AT THE LAST MINUTE!

My kids are going to have so many flippin video games, that we are going to have to get one of those audio racks to use to keep them organized. I swear that is all they want anymore. Christmas shopping has been a bit of a challenge this year in that respect. Whatever happened to Hot Wheels and Barbie Dolls?? My kids - noooooo.... They want their own digital cameras and ipods and technology blah blah blah. When I was 8 - I just wanted a dolly that peed.....

HELPING HANDS HOLIDAYS

One of my favorite ornaments on our Christmas Tree, which will soon be filled underneath with gifts and toys for the children. We have been fortunate and are able to give our kids a good Christmas full of family, food, presents and love. I would just like to take this minute, and remind folks of those less fortunate. A few dollars, a smile, a hug, a new toy - something so simple can brighten the holiday for a child. Please do what you can for others this holiday season. One small act can change the course of an entire life.....Thank you for listening.

INTRO TO DIGITAL ASSIGNMENT

I forgot to pull the other three images off my computer at school, so this one is all I have to show for now. This assignment was my favorite, and this particular image, though not used in my portfolio, is also my favorite. I think I got it right all the way in blending the eye into the flower.
My current assignment however, is doing worksheets. We are to make a "book" so to speak, all about how to use the tools and blah blah blah that we have learned over the course of the semester. It makes me want to take a permanent perch on a few bar stools somewhere, put my feet up, and just get schnockered and forget about it. I even have two more days to get it done due to the ice storm canceling classes, but it is just really difficult to do when I can't install CS2 - which is what we are supposed to do the worksheets over. I wish I could just draw all over the papers. That would be much better.....

How everything outside looks around town.....

My neighborhood looks like this at pretty much every house.

Trees, trees, and more falling trees.....

Trees are completely devastated all around. No school tomorrow for the kiddies! There are still many people without electricity, the cable is out, some phones work and others don't. To top it all off, we got a fresh coating of snow in the night to make things even slicker on the roads. Hubby won't be coming home from work until after 4 in the morning. I am praying we don't need a truck accident lawyer after it's all said and done! If the icy roads don't get us, the tree limbs are still falling and we have no place to park either of our pick-ups out of harms way.....

WHAT POWERS YOUR CAMERAS?

I have lately been debating the idea of switching out the batteries in my Canon, to the highly regarded nimh batteries. They are supposed to hold the charge longer, and also never loose the ability to fully charge. At the moment I carry around three extra batteries, and the two in my camera. Lately I have noticed that they aren't lasting as long on a charge as they used to. These new batteries are less expensive that the Canon batteries, and with the weather around here lately, I need a guarantee that my equipment will function properly even in the cold weather. Anyone have any experience with nimh vs lithium ion? Let me know what you think!

STARK BUCK NEKKID

Nekkid like the discount hotels Las Vegas - it's a stick alright. I can't say I have ever seen a fuzzy tree like this one, but it was. Fuzzy. You'll have to pardon me as my brain is completely fried at the moment. The only thing cool to photograph outside right now is the ice, but it is too dark yet for that. I need some sun shining through to capture the true essence of the winter beauty. The weather guy thinks I might be waiting around for a while for that.....

DIRTY WINDOW SUNRISE

2007 Rebecca Bridges

I need coffee. Much much big cups of coffee. What the heck does Jura capresso taste like?? I don't know either. So this is a photo of a sunrise - again. Only this time I took it through my dirty garage window. A new perspective if you will....

Time....or Lack ThereOf.

Hi fellow Photo Bugs!
This is Mackey, a fellow blogger & friend of Beckys.
As you have probably noticed, Becky hasn't been around much lately.
Being the great friend I am , I thought it would be a great opportunity to hijack her blog:)
I know you might be thinking that she is probably out jetsetting with Nicole Ritchie & the likes but sadly she has been stuck at home with some sick kiddies.
She has been pretty sick herself & let me tell you this is not good timing.
It's the Christmas season.
There is shopping to do, baking to make.
She has her tree up but nobody has been feeling well enough to decorate:(
Right now they are just using it to hang there snotty Kleenexs on.
To top it all off she has a shitload of school work to do!
Where is this poor girl going to find the time to do it all?
Maybe we could buy her one of those German made Lange Sohne watches.
Those watches are made with such precision I bet they have the ability to stop time!
Then Bec would have lots of time to catch up on the things that she needs to do.
I bet she would have a blast freezing us all in time.
I bet when we were unfrozen she would have snagged all of our beef jerky!
